Chilli does the Gibb River Road
Trips – Gibb River Road
In June 2010 it was decided to go for a trip up the North West of Western Australia.
We hired a camper trailer looking at the 3 burner stove on the Camper Trailer it was unquestionable that we could not see ourselves preparing meals off such an inadequate cooking appliance for the next four weeks; so we come to the conclusion of taking (Chilli) the Forno wood fired oven with us on the back of the ute. Whoever we told about the trip; said that it was such an unwise proposal that it would end up with catastrophic failure (busted oven).
Well we took Chilli from Leeming (a suburb of Perth) and did the full length of the Gibb River Road from Derby to the T junction of Wyndham and Kununurra.
Yep, the Gibb River Road stretches approximately for 680 Kilometres of dirt, corrugations, river crossings and back. Chilli looked like it never left the factory, claiming the first wood fired oven on the Gibb River Road. We made lots of friends; some were in disbelief and some thought that Chilli was a dog kennel on the back of the Ute.
